Day 186: 2nd Kings 12-13 and 2nd Chronicles 24

Today on Meditating the Word, Joash repairs the temple, Jehoahaz reigns over Israel for 17 years, followed by Jehoash, Elisha dies; Jehoidah dies and Joash turns away from the Lord and is killed.

This is Day 185. Today we are reading 2nd Kings 9-11

Father God, again we see the importance of who we listen to. Centuries later, Jesus would say to be careful what you hear and how you hear it. As long as Jehoida advised Joash, he did well. But when Jehoida died, Joash followed the counsel not of the wise, but of the foolish, and he suffered the consequences. Help us to remember, Father, to guard our ears as to what we hear, and to always make sure that our actions line up with your word. Amen
