The ICARE4Justice Summit provided global scholars and practitioners with frameworks to develop anti-racist policy endeavors specific to their focal areas. Yet, in the midst of engaging in academic work and activism it is important to not forget about our well being. That said, this episode focuses on a lively panel discussion held on the fourth day of the summit titled, Self-Care as Resistance: Counternarratives on Navigating Racism, anti-Blackness, and Coloniality in Higher Education. Led by Dr. Diandra Prescod from the University of Connecticut, you will hear from panelists who are at various stages of their careers and also offer unique perspectives based on their country’s context. Join us to hear more about how they each approach self-care and what we can do on an individual level to better practice community care.
If you would like to learn more about self-care practices and resources, feel free to access this link that includes a community toolkit with readings, podcasts, videos, and poems shared by our panelists.
