IRISH LANGUAGE ORIGINAL: Níl dóthain sagart Éireannach ar fáil
Dar le hambasáid na hÉireann sa Fhrainc, tá suas le deich míle Éireannach ina gcónaí i bPáras, agus téann cuid díobh ag an Aifreann in Chapelle St Patrick.
Cruthaíonn an séipéal seo, atá lonnaithe i gColáiste na nGael, nasc idir Éire agus na hÉireannaigh atá ag cur fúthu i bPáras. Bíonn na daoine céanna i láthair ag an Aifreann in Chapelle St Patrick de ghnáth ach ní bheadh a fhios agat cé a bhuailfeadh isteach! Bhí Bono agus a bhean Ali i láthair ag an Aifreann ann i samhradh na bliana 2009. Bhí U2 ag seinm ag Stad de France agus is cosúil go raibh sé tábhachtach don lánúin cuairt a thabhairt ar an séipéal.
Sa lá atá inniu ann, níl dóthain sagart Éireannach ar fáil agus bíonn brú ollmhór ar an Eaglais Chaitliceach sa tír seo folúntais a líonadh.
Bheadh díomá an domhain ar pharóistigh Chapelle St Patrick mura dtiocfadh sagart eile i gcomharbas ar an Athair Walsh ach le cúnamh Dé, ní tharlóidh sé sin.
TRANSLATION TO ENGLISH: There are insufficient numbers of Irish priests available
According to the Irish embassy in France, there are upwards of ten thousand Irish people living in Paris, and some of these attend Mass in Chapelle St Patrick.
Located at the Irish College, this church forms a link between Ireland and the Irish who live in Paris.
Usually it is the same people who attend Mass in Chapelle St Patrick but you can never tell who might drop in!
Bono and his wife Ali attended mass there in the summer of 2009.
U2 were performing at Stad de France and it seems that it was important to the couple to visit the church.
These days, there are not enough priests available and there is great pressure on the Catholic Church in this country to fill vacancies.
The Chapelle St Patrick parishioners would be greatly disappointed if another priest cannot succeed Father Walsh but, please God, this won’t happen.
