Being the victim of a crime is horrible, and those perpetrating crimes should be held accountable; but we must acknowledge the facts. Fewer than 25 percent of reported crimes are solved by arrest. A wrongful arrest can destroy one’s life by creating a ripple effect that lasts long after the case is closed.
