Matt Ritchey is a former Division 1 athlete, recovering addict, and knife attack survivor who turned his life around through endurance sports. In the last few years he has finished 7 Ironmans, several shorter distance triathlons, a marathon, and now he is training for a few 100 mile ultra marathons to help raise money so that less fortunate families can afford hearing aids for their kids.
Matt is also the founder and head coach for Phoenix1 Endurance, a triathlon/running team here in Austin whose focus is on helping people find their “why” though endurance sports and difficult races.
Matt has an incredible story about how he found his love for life again after nearly 10 years of drug abuse. He now focuses his time and energy on becoming the best version of himself by lifting up those around him and working towards his goal of leaving this world a better place than how he found it.
