One of the main causes of human suffering is being trapped in a reality that is constructed merely by our own minds and thoughts. A huge amount of our suffering goes away naturally upon awakening to the true nature of reality, which in Buddhism is called emptiness. Buddha gave the teachings on emptiness both directly and indirectly as the fulcrum of his sermons.
