Sumir lifa lengi en ævi þeirra er róleg og viðburðalítil. Svo var ekki hvað Göran Kropp varðaði. Hans drifkraftur var ást á fjallaklifri. Hann varð brátt vel þekktur í þeim heimi vegna mikillar útgeislunar en einnig sérvisku. Kropp var ekki hrifinn af því að fara auðveldustu leiðina. Hann leitaðist sífellt eftir nýjum og krefjandi áskorunum.
