Professor Ian Brighthope:
A retired Medical Practitioner who graduated over 40 years ago with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He also has qualifications and experience in agricultural science and research. He originally specialised in Immunology but decided early in his career to focus on nutrition, nutritional, environmental medicine and herbal medicine as he understood they were the building blocks and keystones to health.
Professor Brighthope is the founding president of Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and has a lifelong ambition to help change the way medicine and healthcare is practised for the benefit of the public.
Professor Brighthope has published extensively for the general public and has appeared regularly in the media as an advocate of nutritional and environmental health. He is the author of 5 books and many scientific and medial lectures and reviews. His books have been endorsed by many luminaries, most notably the late Linus Pauling, the only person to have ever been awarded two unshared Nobel Prizes.
“Research from around the world is showing that vitamin D can play an essential role in both building immunity to the virus in the first place and also reducing the impact of the disease on those who do fall ill,” Prof Brighthope said.
