EU “gravely concerned” about Israel UNRWA ban – EU Ferreira

EU Commissioner Elisa Ferreira today called on Israel to stop attacks on the United Nations and to allow the UN relief agency, UNRWA to continue its work providing humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.

Last month members of the Israeli parliament voted to ban UNRWA from operating in Israel which would include occupied Palestinian territories. The ban is to come into force within ninety days of the vote. Speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg today, Commissioner Ferreira said the vision of a rules-based global order has to be defended.
