Jesus had compassion on the crowds because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36) Jesus came to fulfil the OT description of the role of a shepherd. He always provides, retores, and calls his sheep. (Matthew 8:28-9:36) Will we be like Matthew, get up, leaving all things to follow Jesus?
