“Blackness will never be enough,” said society.
Today's episode is a continuation of last week's episode [For the Culture Series - Black Music month PART I], featuring cultural conversationalist Ms. Angelica Smith. Angelica is a music artist and podcaster herself. She has that "it" factor that lets you know she is culturally relevant and sound minded. We had so much fun with this conversation that it lasted way past our normal time. What can I say, the convo got good.
At this point in the conversation we spoke about blackness being this complex thing that is mostly misunderstood and often interpreted by "others" and had to question if we are okay with that.
What does music do for you?
How do you connect it to your culture? Your blackness?
Do not miss out on hearing about how the black culture is made up of so many individually beautiful ingredients that collectively come together to form an amazing pot of gumbo and this gumbo is called "Blackness".
"Music holds me." Angelica Smith #itsthebarsforme
