Compassion is the basis of almost all moral codes on the planet.
It helps us to judge some things as good and others as bad.
And when something is bad, we have a problem.
----more----
Our goal is to solve it so that we go from bad to good.
Problem solving is an inherently moral activity.
I find, as a Humanist, that when I intentionally try to solve my problems in a compassionate way, that I solve them more effectively.
Reminding myself that my ideal is compassionate problem solving helps me find the moral motivation to put in the extra effort required to find a “good” solution to my problem.
