People expect homilies to be brief in England.
(I am always intrigued that people can listen to talk programmes on the radio for, say, 30 minutes or more, but apparently Christians are incapable of listening anything longer than 5 minutes in church.)
Sadly, that is often just not enough time to celebrate the fullness of the Scriptures - so what I do is deliver three homilies, them stitch them together into one whole piece on my podcast....
Some questions considered here:
Why do people think Christians are irrational and emotional?
Why is buying a field without telling the owner that it contains buried treasure not dishonest?
Why is mocking The Resurrection acceptable on the BBC?
