What about Church doctrine and practice?
The Church has a similar attitude towards discerning the right thing to do: LISTEN TO THE FAITHFUL!!!
The Church teaches that
all the faithful, through baptism, "have an instinct for the truth of the Gospel, which enables them to recognise and endorse authentic Christian doctrine and practice, and to reject what is false. That supernatural instinct, intrinsically linked to the gift of faith received in the communion of the Church, is called the sensus fidei"

Today's gospel is an example of 'sensus fidei' in action; the forthcoming Synod on the Family will likewise be guided, through the Holy Spirit, mindful of the 'sensus fidei'......
