In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair welcomes in economist and libertarian theorist David D. Friedman to discuss his book "Machinery of Freedom", which was recently released in it's 3rd edition. David describes what led him to believe that the most ideal society would be one without governments, and what drove him he to organize his thoughts on just how this could occur through the three edition of Machinery of Freedom. David explains his definition of government, how he views it as differing from other institutions in society, and why he believes consequentialist arguments are the best path towards bringing about a more free society. Be sure to stay tuned for the wrap-up rant, where Marc explains why the issues he has with the consequentialist approach, and why he feels it's so important to strive for a consistent, moral argument for liberty.
