Baz Ashmawy: Episode 108

 

Baz Ashmawy has lived a life packed with highs and lows and most people will have never heard his fascinating story before. This week he joined Jarlath just days before his Emmy nomination was announced to talk about discovering the true person behind his mother, having his father walk out on him as a child, being kicked out of school, believing happiness does not come without hardship, what gives 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy its soul and his turbulent relationship with RTÉ.

 

Baz also speaks openly about the circumstances which led to his arrest for drunk driving and why he believes his public profile played a major role in the event. We hear how dropping out of Trinity College led to him working in sales in Sydney before working in recruitment in London and how a collapsed lung almost killed him in 2011. Baz explains how building his career back up from scratch on his own terms  gave him the courage to follow his passion.
