We have a unique and refreshing guest with us today. Her name is Carrie ek. We will be talking about how we overly complicate nutrition and how we can simplify it..
Bachelor of Science from UIC 1988
MBA , Keller (not Northwestern) 1997
I have worked at Lutheran General since 1991, before that I worked 3 years at Cook County hospital (now Stroger) in the adult diabetes clinic for 3 years.
My first job here was working with people with eating disorders as part of an addiction tx program: all considered addictions. That program more or less closed then worked general hospital nutrition floors: cardiac, orthopedic, physical rehab, cancer for about 5-10 years or so. I did work part time when my kids were young. During this time I started working on our pediatric inpatient adolescent floor.
I have worked almost exclusively in outpatient nutrition counseling and clinic work for about 10-15 years now. There is some overlap. Now I work about 20% adult general nutrition counseling: diabetes, obesity, gastrointestinal issues, cancer and the rest kids: overwt, CF, EOE, SMA, celiac, food allergies and general counseling mostly for overwt, some kids with tube feedings.
