ABC NO RIO is a social center located in NYC's Lower East Side and was founded in 1980. In addition the the weekly hardcore punk matinees, ABC NO RIO features a dark room, art gallery, silkscreening setup, zine library and public computer lab. Despite the encroachment of the dollar-hungry yuppie horde, they continue to prevail. As more and more of New York's culture is torn down and replaced by generic capitalism, institutions like ABC NO RIO battle to survive and are as crucial as ever.
