This year’s Mauli Ola Wednesdays series is centered around the restoration of mana and maintaining Pono. This month on Wednesday, September 28th we’ll welcome Uncle Calvin Hoe to talk Mele and ʻŌlelo for restoring and maintaining.
Calvin Hoe is a Native Hawaiian musician and teacher. He began making Hawaiian instruments in 1961 as a teenage boy in Hakipu'u, helping bring Hawaiian instruments back from obscurity into popular consciousness. He has made more than 80,000 bamboo nose flutes and has travelled around the world playing music. His family runs the Waiahole Poi Factory and Hakipu'u Learning Center where they teach the next generation.
