Today on the Felony Friday Show host John Odermatt is joined by a guest to discuss the DEA's announcement to ban the chemicals contained in kratom. For those not familiar with kratom, it is a plant from Southeast Asia that has become a popular herbal supplement in the U.S. and is used as a way to self-treat chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a number of other conditions. Today's guest shares how kratom has helped him deal with chronic back pain and helped him to avoid using opiates prescribed by a doctor to treat his pain.
My guest's story:Jack Linton has been a friend of the Lions of Liberty for many years and he joined the show today to share a personal story about how the drug kratom has eased pain he's been saddled with since childhood. Jack is an entrepreneur, who owns and operates Philly Grown, which is a gourmet mushroom growing business. He works long days that often involve manual labor, so he doesn't have the luxury to slow down for back pain. Since childhood Jack has had to deal with chronic back pain caused by an issue with his vertebra. Jack has self-medicated using kratom and due to the DEA's decision to make kratom Schedule 1 he will need to find a new way to deal with his pain.
