Introduction:
Today on Felony Friday Bertram Russel, Jr. joins host John Odermatt to share how he was railroaded by the IRS. This episode ties into a two-part episode from a few weeks ago with Pete Hendrickson. In those episodes (Part 1 and Part 2) Hendrickson went delved into the misunderstood history of the income tax and explained how he believes it is possible to crack the income tax code.
Bertram, who goes by Skip, is a doctor and investor. He's also a listener of this show and the one who tipped me off to Pete Hendrickson's work on the income tax. Many people can't imagine a scenario where they're literally fighting the IRS for their freedom. Unfortunately, this is what happened with Skip and his story is both remarkable and educational.
Content:
Skip first learned of Pete Hendrickson's work while he was doing research for his own IRS case. The federal government had accused him of conspiring to file false returns and of evading income taxes. He was put on trial with a dozen other people whom he did not know and the judge refused to separate his case from the others. Many of those charged in the case opted to accept a plea deal. However, Skid refused to compromise his integrity and he chose to fight the charges.
Unfortunately, Bertram lost, as most do when they fight the IRS. However, he can hold his head high because he did not compromise his integrity. It's a rigged system and Skip ended up serving about 5 years in prison. Scroll down below the posted interview to view documents the IRS sent him while he was in prison. These letters clearly prove Bertram did not have any tax liability during the years the IRS claims he evaded and conspired not to pay income taxes.
