This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Post-election meetings of Congress, known as “lame-duck sessions,” epitomize the old adage, “You want it bad, you get it bad.”
In such sessions, legislators who will not serve in the next Congress get to vote, potentially endearing themselves to lobbyists and other future employers. The leadership often tries to jam through legislation that would not pass if subjected to closer scrutiny and debate.
Rep. Louie Gohmert yesterday warned about such a measure scheduled for a vote this morning. Known as the “tracking bill,” it would create a federal program for monitoring the whereabouts of certain people, including by implanting location-transmitting chips and having law enforcement collect the data.
What might help with autistic and demented individuals obviously has the potential for immense abuse. Please, let your representative know right away, such a program must not get blown through this lame-duck session.
