Today's 'Existential Threat to Freedom'

Yesterday, USA Today and the Washington Post attacked President Trump anew over his effort to stop importing jihadists. This time, the vehicle chosen involved quotes from the Breitbart Radio show Stephen Bannon hosted before signing on as the Trump campaign’s CEO. They describe our conflict with such enemies’ animating ideology: Islam’s Sharia.

As a regular guest on Steve’s program, I often discussed with him the threat posed by Sharia-supremacists. He brought to the topic the kind of free-range intellect and unvarnished realism that contributed profoundly to Donald Trump’s electoral success and, now informs his role as Trump’s Senior Counselor.

Ronald Reagan often warned that “Every generation faces an existential threat to freedom.” Messrs. Trump and Bannon have sworn to defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and deserve our thanks for correctly understanding, and doing their duty against, today’s threat.
