There's often online chatter about movie figures being “shelf warmers.” Shelf warmers are figures that hang around on shelves even when a new line is coming out. The live action movie lines are often referred to shelf warmers more so because adult collectors don't normally buy them. But if you look at your local toy aisle today, there will be figures released a year ago still there awaiting a home.
current lines not selling
What is a shelf warmer anyway? Other than an insult to throw at a toy that's simply not to your tastes.
Those who are complaining that the arrival of movie toys will mean something they've been waiting for won't be released here could have bought the figure they want online ages ago
Any notable shelfwarmers from recent history?
CW Silverbolt
CW Skywarp (though its late)
Overseas is really different (Platinums, Gift Sets, CW Ironhide)
