A staggering one third of food produced in the world for human consumption is lost or wasted every year. That’s according to the European Parliament which last night debated measures to halve food waste by 2030. They’re to vote on those proposals today. The Fine Gael MEP Mairead Mc Guinness says food waste poses a financial burden on both families and consumers in Ireland. And she’s happy to see the issue high up on the political agenda at a national and European level.
