Prof. David Montgomery is a geomorphologist  & environmentalist in the Earth and Space Sciences division at the University of Washington’s College of the Environment in Seattle. Dave specializes in the evolution of geological topography and the influence of geomorphological processes on ecological systems and human societies. He is one our leading scientists who knows everything about dirt and soil and its historical role in sustaining or collapsing cultures. His research has taken him world wide, from the Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest to the Andes, to the Himalayas and Tibetan plateau. David has authored several important works.
