We could all use a friend like Timothy:
- First Introduced - Acts 16:1-5
- From Lystra
- Jewish mother (2 Timothy 1:5)
- Greek father
- The believers there "spoke well of him"
- Accompanied Paul - Acts 17:14-15, 18:5, 19:22, & 20:4
- Paul's Emissary -To Corinth (1 Corinthians 4:17 & 16:10), and to Thessalonica (1 Thessalonians 3:2-6)
- Helped Paul Write - 2 Corinthians, Philippians, Colossians,1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, and Philemon.
- In Prison - According to Hebrews 13:23
PAUL'S FRIENDSHIP WITH TIMOTHY - Philippians 2:19-24
- TIMOTHY IS TRUSTWORTHY - v19
- Paul knows that Timothy will represent him faithfully and truthfully.
- TIMOTHY IS SELFLESS - v20-21
- "I have no one else like him"
- TIMOTHY IS PROVEN - v22
- Paul is able to send Timothy to them with full confidence because he has already shown that he is very capable, serving faithfully for many years.
- TIMOTHY IS LIKE A SON - v22
- When a friendship deepens, he/she becomes like family to us. In some cases, closer than family.
