S02E25 – Speaking for the Part of You That Died
The brothers dedicate themselves to one topic in this episode: allocution. This is an old word that has been reborn and reapplied only recently into our vernacular with the trial of USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar. Jon starts by briefly reviewing the evolution of state and federal victim rights.
Jerry talks about meeting with, advocating for, and allocuting in court to the man who inadvertently killed his son Joe. Both brothers go on to talk about the principle of allocution being used in other circumstances.
