In her book Why love hurts, sociologist Eva Illouz presents a new thesis to explain suffering in romantic relationships.
Since Freud and the birth of psychoanalysis, we think that this suffering is linked to our personal history, to the events we experienced.
On the contrary, Eva Illouz shows that society is largely responsible. Now, the rules of romantic relationships are no longer clear, and it is this uncertainty that hurts individuals.
In this episode, I present you the exciting thesis of this sociologist to understand why love hurts today.
