Interview Independent MEP Marian Harkin on MEPs rejection of road transport amendments
Karen Coleman talks to the Independent MEP Marian Harkin about the rejection by MEPs on Wednesday of proposed amendments to the “Mobility Package” road haulage reform rules. MEPs rejected the Committee’s proposals on posting of workers, driving and rest time rules and deliveries within another EU state known as cabotage.
They’ve now referred them back to the European Parliament’s Transport Committee for reconsideration.
Some organisations and MEPs welcomed the vote. However, Marian Harkin says she fears it could have a detrimental impact on Irish hauliers and exporters.
