Episode #31: Afam Onyema, The GEANCO Foundation, and Charitable Service. Our topic this week is about charity and what it means to be of service the world. The following quote by Mahatma Gandhi certainly describes our guest and his whole family, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It is our pleasure to interview Afam Onyema, the head of the GEANCO Foundation. GEANCO works to save and transform the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Africa. They have built a hospital, lead special surgical missions, run maternal and infant health programs, and have provided supplies and life-changing scholarships to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria. There is gratitude in their success.
We know there are many of you out there who raise money for those in need or who want to begin a charity of your own. So, it is a treat to talk with Afam, a man of great kindness, enthusiasm, and integrity as he speaks about what it means to be of service in the world, to remain focused on long-term projects, and what it requires to inspire others to join in and sustain the work. He shares some exciting and joyful experiences. Charity truly is its own reward!
