Daily Devotional By Archbishop Foley Beach

MESSAGE SUMMARY: We don't deserve God's mercy because we are all sinners, but we come before God for His mercy. Paul tells us so succinctly tells us, in Romans 2:4-5, that without God’s mercy and our repentance we would be facing God’s wrath at judgment: “do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.". We can never pray or enter God's presence while we are in our pride; we can only enter God's presence if we humble ourselves in Jesus the Christ. Humility and penitence, before God, invite the presence of God -- honesty in action -- here I am, Lord, just as I am; please have mercy on me a sinner.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. (John 1:12f).
