The European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents today issued a statement saying the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement “is fair and balanced”. And that it is the only deal possible and is therefore not open to renegotiation.
The Parliament’s conference of Presidents is made up of the leaders of the Parliament’s political groups along with its president and a non-attached member.
MEPs were supposed to have debated the Withdrawal Agreement this morning in the European Parliament but that debate was cancelled after Theresa May postponed a vote on her Brexit deal in the House of Commons.
Now she faces a vote of confidence within her party. The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says the call for the vote is a callous and unpatriotic thing to do.
