EU leaders will meet in Brussels today for an EU summit that was supposed to focus on migration, the EU’s long-term budget, the single market and external relations.
However, the ongoing uncertainty over the Brexit deal will feature in the summit as the EU-27 leaders discuss Theresa May’s attempts to get some concessions on the Northern Ireland backstop.
The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy is warning there can be no rowing back on the backstop. And he says prolonging the UK’s withdrawal process from the EU won’t work either.
