The European Parliament has today backed measures aimed at mitigating the impact of a no-deal Brexit on European Citizens.
They give legal safeguards for a limited time period in a number of areas including, basic air, road freight and bus services between the UK and EU.
They also ensure the continuation of European cross-border cohesion and cooperation programmes between the North and South of Ireland and Scotland.
Today's vote is also designed to ensure EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU 27, keep their social security benefits.
There are also measures to deal with fishing in EU and UK waters.
Fine Gael MEP for Ireland South, Deirdre Clune, says the measures are aimed to avoid disorder and chaos in the event Britain leaves the EU without a deal:
