David Renton is a British barrister specializing housing, discrimination and employment law and a political activist. Earlier he was an academic historian and sociologist specializing in fascism and right wing movements having taught at Nottingham Trent University and Rhodes University in South Africa. His work is notable for providing a revisionist understanding of the rise of fascist and anti-fascist movements during the course of history. David is the author of several important books on Fascism and the Far Right. His most recent is "The New Authoritarians: Convergence on the Right" which exposes a deeply disturbing trend in the rise of a new right-wing radicalism that is gaining strength in the US, UK, France and other European nations and Latin America. He is a graduate of St John's College at Oxford and received his doctorate at the University of Sheffield.
