Derek chats to football writer Graeme Strachan who's critically-acclaimed debut book 'The Bird & The Feather' looks back on the time Dundee Football Club enticed two world icons to Dens Park.
Claudio Caniggia and Fabrizio Ravanelli were footballing royalty.
Caniggia was a World Cup star for Argentina at Italia 90 and USA 94 and had been the great Diego Maradona's strike partner while Ravanelli was a Champions League winner who was once Britain's highest-paid player.
Dundee games were soon being shown in far-flung places like the West Indies and Maradona himself was ready to jump on a plane and join the party.
Controversial businessman Giovanni di Stefano later joined the board and had to deny Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein would become a Dundee season ticket holder.
But the crazy period would come at a cost for the Dark Blues who would slip into administration and almost go out of business.
Graeme gives us an insight into what was a memorable and equally mental few years on Tayside.
