A homily for the twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C), by Bishop Thomas Daly: Jesus speaks of division in today’s Gospel (Lk 12: 49-53). Christ does not will this division, but it arises from the refusal to accept him. Disciples through the centuries have sacrificed much as they renounced all things opposed to Christ – including relationships. Nevertheless, we know that true unity comes from fidelity to Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
