Elisabeth Oberzaucher studierte Zoologie an den Universitäten Wien und Würzburg. Sie promovierte in Anthropologie mit Spezialisierung auf das menschliche Verhalten. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Mensch-Umwelt-Interaktionen, nonverbale Kommunikation sowie Partnerwahl und Attraktivität. Sie lehrt an der Universität Wien, leitet das Forschungsinstitut Urban Human, und ist Vizepräsidentin der International Society for Human Ethology. Ihr Buch „Homo urbanus, ein evolutionsbiologischer Blick in die Zukunft der Städte“ wurde als Wissenschaftsbuch des Jahres 2018 nominiert.
