Let's be clear about one thing: both Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator are terrible adaptations of "Herbert West - Re-Animator." While the 1989 sequel does boast an increased budget that was wisely lent to the talents of Screaming Mad George, it has nothing better to do with Dan "Bland" Cain than have him go through the same character arc from Re-Animator.
Fortunately, the 2003 sequel circumvents that problem by jumping 13 years into the future and taking place entirely in a prison. Unfortunately, literally everything else about the film.
