Marie and Mike indulge in shameless self-promotion by discussing a film department offering. Every academic year, the Arts and Humanities division selects a theme for its public programs, and this year's attention-grabbing theme is "Power." Every fall semester, the film department responds to that theme with an international film festival. So, the festival running from Nov. 18- 22 in Monteabaro Hall is brimming with power-themed feature films: "Diplomacy," "A Prophet," "Beauty and the Beast," "See You Up There" and "Baxter." This year's picks are all French films and, yes, they're subtitled for those of you who aren't fluent yet. If you see Marie at one of the screenings, make sure to tell her "merci" for overseeing this festival.
