Prince of Peace
He Will Be Called
December 24, 2019
"Peace."
What do you think of when you hear that word? The dictionary provides several definitions: the normal, non-warring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world; an agreement to end hostilities and abstain from fighting; a stated mutual harmony between people; freedom from civil commotion and violence; to be or become silent. Words that are closely related to peace include reconciliation, unity, truce, tranquility, harmony, and calm.
Ephesians 2:14 says “For Christ himself has brought peace to us.” What does that really mean? If you look around you won’t find much peace. Peace in our country, in our world, in our neighborhoods, and perhaps even in our homes seems to be in short supply. So what does it mean that Jesus is our Prince of Peace? Where is it?
In this Christmas Eve message, we celebrate Jesus’ birth, and discover what the Bible means when it calls Him our Prince of Peace. We all long for it; Jesus offers it. Let’s unwrap this gift of peace together.
