The Dunwich Horror wasn't the first big screen adaptation of Lovecraft; hell, it wasn't even the first big screen adaptation of Lovecraft to be given the Roger Corman treatment (weirdly, the honor for both goes to 1963's The Haunted Palace). However, it was inarguably the first and last to feature Dean Stockwell's eldritch perm and mustache combination!
What exactly should you expect from a Lovecraft film brought to you by Corman? Well, let's just say there's a good deal of ingenuity brought about by obvious budgetary constraints. It may not be the best or most faithful adaptation in the world, but there's a whole bunch of people - including L.A. Confidential's Curtis Hanson! - giving it the old Miskatonic University try.
