The Variance Engine: 1 Year as a Woman,
Since our untimely death and recent rebirth in this age of uncertainty, I decided to destroy the old model of how I was going to distribute one of the side projects of the Brubaker Brothers. We had initially had it as an incentive on our patreon, and possibly improperly charged for it on a separate tier. After some reconsideration and a little bit of time to ponder the idea, we are going to release the backlog of episodes of it here and the additional episodes that are in the works as I type this. I am going to provide the original episode notes verbatim, as some of them were written in the moment of creation and are probably more relevant than what I would say about them in retrospect.
"This is the pilot episode of the Brubaker Brothers' "The Variance Engine", a new podcast series focused around existential philosophy, epistemology, and diversity. The opening series is entitled "1 Year as a Woman", and is based around Jason's experiences before and during his transition from male to female, and the detransition that subsequently followed. It's raw and real, rather taboo (still), and told in the first person. The first episode, "The Elephant in the Room", is the progression of Jason's story from youth, through puberty and young adulthood, and into his early 30's where the process takes a seemingly logical route.
This project has been a few years in the making, and finally on Jason's birthday, we can finally launch with an iteration that is suitable for sharing.
