About our guest
Mike took up the position of Managing Director for Davines UK & Ireland in January 2015, moving himself and his wife from New Zealand to London to do so. He has a demonstrated history of leadership in the beauty & cosmetics industry and has held roles at Wella as well as leading his own successful business, Boutique Brands for 8 years whilst in NZ.
He is highly skilled in business start ups, restructuring, business planning, sale and marketing and having lived and worked in South Africa, New Zealand and the UK, he has an international business approach and a understanding of different cultures.

Mike shares such wisdom in this episode, including the experience of leading a business during the 2010/11 earthquakes in Christchurch and the lessons he learnt as a result. Despite losing a quarter of his business in 50 seconds, Mike found the strength to make business support his people, provide certainty and hope and despite the responsibility he felt making his 'heart sore' he shares how important it was to be kind to himself.
He generously shares the legacy he wants to leave for his children, an ethos of looking forward rather than back and he provides nuggets of optimism which will indeed help all of us as we continue to face into the Covid crisis.
Mike has empathy, compassion and pragmatism is spades and will make your heart sing and feel sore in equal measure as he tells his engaging tales.
