God’s House Rules
Interim Pastor Hosea Bilyeu
Ephesians 4, Philippians 2
“The Kingdom of God is where what God wants is done.” Dallas Willard
Relationships are the stuff of life. The problems we have in life usually, if not always, come back to relationships. If we could move forward in our relationships and they could become stronger & better, then our lives would take a strong turn for the better.
These house rules are for God’s House, but also apply to other relationships.
Sermon in a sentence:
Relationships are best when God rules. (We can’t live this way without the Holy Spirit.)
Part 1 (06-07-20):
Philippians 2:1–4
House Rule #1: Always think well of others. [Mind]
-Deal honestly with things inside you when you get irritated with others, think badly of them.
-I must deal humbly with the people around me (vv. 3-4)
Philippians 4:8—We are responsible for our thoughts. We think what we think because we choose to think what we think.
Part 2 (06-14-20):
House Rule #2: Always speak well of others. [Mouth]
Ephesians 4:20—Let NO corrupt word come from your mouth
Part 3 (06-21-20):
Ephesians 4:25–32
Kindness, Tenderness, & Forgiveness
House Rule #3: Always act well toward others. [Manners]
-Practice Consistent Kindness (*practice* never perfect)
Be as tender to your family & church family as you are to others
God is KIND, and He tells us to be kind to others (5:1—*Therefore* be like Christ)
-Practice Compassionate Tenderness
-Practice Costly Forgiveness
Forgiveness costs. You have to take the pain & hurt into yourself (Not just excusing yourself). It will cost you to stay in relationship.
