How to shape culture in a postmodern world | The Mark Harrington Show | 7-2-20

We are experiencing nothing short of a moral and cultural revolution in America. This is in large part due to the rejection of truth and adoption of the post modern view.

Post modernism is a western philosophy of the late 20th and early 21st century movement characterized by broad skepticism, subjectivism, or relativism; a general suspicion of reason; and an acute sensitivity to the role of ideology in asserting and maintaining political and economic power.

So, how do we shape culture in a post-modern world?

There are three possible responses:

1. Become idealistic, naïve, and live in denial by offering only platitudes. This view is characterized by wishful thinking, defined by activities that emphasize symbolism over substance.
2. Become pessimistic and cynical and just hunker down in our basements preparing for the apocalypse.
3. Take a sober assessment of reality and plan accordingly.

We need to take the long view and behave like the men of Issachar who “Understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”

Our mission is to speak the truth in love to shape culture by integrating truth telling with Gospel preaching.

… And we must use of victim photography and video.

Mother Teresa said, “We are not called to be successful. We are called to be faithful.” In times like these it is even more important for us to remain at our posts fighting for truth and justice.
