MEPs in the European Parliament this morning aired very critical views of the European Council’s recent agreement on the EU’s long-term budget known as the multi-annual financial framework or MFF.
The Parliament debated the outcome of the recent marathon summit of EU leaders which ended in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The EU Council agreed a seven hundred and fifty billion euro (750bn) Covid recovery fund. They also reached unanimous agreement on the EU’s long-term budget which will run from 2021 to 2027.
However, MEPs say proposed cuts to EU programmes in the long-term budget are unacceptable.
The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly says the Parliament will look for adjustments to the MFF.
