Verma resides on Yelamu, Occupied Ramaytush Ohlone Territory and is the Daughter of Teresa Soria Abillano, Granddaughter of Luisa Conui Cacal, and Great Granddaughter of Transfiguracion Capuyan Enriquez and Josefa Silaw. Her Visayan roots span the islands of Leyte and Bohol.
