Hi Friends,
Here we have the basic argument (pattern of reasoning) for nihilism about ethics. Recall, premise (P) is a reason for the truth of a conclusion (C). The conclusion what someone is trying to show with their premises is true. It’s actually a lot of fun.
P1) We are shamed, blamed, rewarded and praised into believing there is right and wrong as a reality.
P2) These are not reasons but psychological manipulation; nonrational means to produce an effect on our minds.
P3) What is produced by nonrational means should not be believed, rationally speaking.
This is a summary of the argument for nihilism (nonexistence) of right and wrong—ethics.
